Xarel·lo

  • Other names: pansal, pansalet, caroixà, moll, pansà blanc viñate, white xarel·lo.
  • Area: typical of Penedès. Grown in coastal areas of Catalonia, Cantabria, the Duero, Galicia and Aragon.
  • Varietal features: vigorous. Medium-sized not very tight bunhes. Large round white grape, thick skin.
  • Environment: adaptable to most soils from sea level to 300m.
  • Cultivation: ideal stocks: weak to medium vigour. Long pruning.
  • Production: varies according to climate. Good yield in general.
  • Wine: consistent, balanced, slightly acid. Strength 11º to 12º. Suitable for cava.
