MOST COMMON RED COSMOPOLITAN VARIETIES 

Cabernet Sauvignon

  • Other names: vidure, vindure, bouchet, red Bordeaux.
  • Area: especially Penedès and Costers del Segre.
  • Varietal features: very vigorous. Small bunch. Round grape with very firm skin.
  • Environment: adapts to most soils including poor ones.
  • Cultivation: does web with most stocks. Long Guyot pruning.
  • Production: small yield.
  • Wine: excellent quality, good strength and colour. Astringent when young and fine after ageing.
