A food is a substance that is taken in via the digestive tract and can be digested and absorbed by the digestive system in order to nourish the organism.

Wine is the product resulting exclusively from the complete or partial fermentation of grapes or fresh grape must which, after transformation, contains mainly water, alcohol (the product of fermentation) and other nutritious substances (minerals, amino acids, vitamins and trace elements).

Wine, therefore, is a food and as such gives us nutrients and energy.
